Had my first cigar around July last year at a winery in New Egypt after wanting to try one for a few years. My brother in law surprised me with it (hand rolled, mild, maduro wrapper) and I just fell in love. It had this great cocoa taste to it and I swear I was smoking a fake chocolate cigar. Smoked it right down to my fingertips while we watched the fireworks show going on. Waited about 4 months before buying a few more and just kept going from there. It's safe to say that I am completely hooked on cigars though I still only have one about every 1-2 weeks.
I have around 50 or so in a tupperdor right now (never wanted to do a humidor) with a cigar box on the bottom along with the lid on top and the cedar dividers on each wall. A boveda 69% pack and digital hygrometer sit inside which are a little tight fit but there is still room to breathe. I fully plan on going the KL route once my cooler is seasoned with the 5 boxes and lids inside from the distilled water. I'm not sure why I took the lids off but I thought to use them for extra storage. That's not the case as I put my cigars in to see how they would look and I can barely fill 3 boxes as it is. So my solution is of course to buy many more to keep the humidity to air ratio stable.
Right now I am sticking to medium strength and under as my one med/full stick completely rearranged my insides. It was my 3rd ever cigar (now am over 20 in) and I didn't know the strength at the time. I spit and not swallow the tobacco to also save my stomach rumbles. Nica Libre, 5 Vegas Classic, and RP Connecticut are my favorites. Sorry for the overly long winded post here! I have a habit of being too attentive to detail but it's never gotten me in trouble. Anyways, that's my story so far. I hope to continue on down this yummy (and slightly expensive/addictive) hobby for many a year.
