Hey everyone! Just joined up and have been looking around. As the title says, I'm leaving in Savannah as I finish up school (going into my senior year this fall). I'm studying illustration and a little graphic design down here. I'm originally from Pittsburgh and that's where I started smoking cigars. Unfortunately the selection back home is a lot better than down here but what can you do about that.

Looking forward to meeting some great people and share opinions.

Hi Trevor -

Good to have another Savannah BOTL. I live in Bluffton SC and work in Savannah. I work out of a building located on the corner of Whitaker and W. Harris. One block south of E. Liberty and one block west of Bull (if that helps any). Are you taking summer classes?

Wow guys, thanks for the warm welcoming!! I can already tell from reading around a bit that I will really enjoy my stay here.

Fallinher, I am a HUGE Stillers fan! I was fortunate to get some tickets to the Steelers Ravens game last season at Heinz Field (the one we lost unfortunately).

Yodismatt, That's awesome man. How are you liking the industry so far? are you freelancing or looking into any firms? Would really be interested in hearing about what you've been up to/seeing some of your work.

Fitze, I know exactly where that is. I actually just moved out of an apartment on West Perry Street between Barnard and Whitaker so I used to live all of 2.5 blocks from there. Great location!

I have been lucky enough to have been working in the industry since my Sophomore year of college.

First gig was working in the digital department for clear channel, I did anything from event photos, videos, print, web content to trafficking banner ads. Then they had a cut backs and reduced the department to the senior guy.

I got a gig working for a local eye doctor in their "Business Development" aka Marketing Department. This was an alright other than they didn't want to change anything! My department head loved my ideas for their ads and billboards but the mother of the doctor wanted to keep to their same old ads and update the copy. So basically all I did was open PS or ID and change a few things.

Earlier this year I reached a goal of mine a lot sooner then I had thought and a local agency here in town offered me a position as their digital designer. So now I work for pearl and love it!

Yodismatt, that's awesome brother! Congratulations! I picked up my first client a few months back and designed a color and b&w logo for him. For the most part though I do more illustration based work and am starting to really get into hand lettering. Glad to hear everything is looking good for you as a designer though. Keep up the hard work!
