Hi! Just joined the forum.
I'm a non-smoker that tried smoking cigars a few years ago, but only smoked one or two a year. I always liked the smell of a cigar, and like the same flavours and aromas when they turn up in coffee or beer that I drink. Since I smoke so few, and don't have a humidor, I was only buying singles in tube, so they could sit for a week or so until I had the opportunity to smoke them. Now, after probably a couple of years or more, I am getting back into it again.
Here is what I tried years ago:
Romeo y Julieta Romeo #2
H. Upmann Corona Major
Flor de Cano Predilecto Tubulares
My recollection is that I enjoyed all these cigars for the most part. The choices were all made based on recommendations as cubans suitable for beginners, i.e. milder cigars. I think I could only smoke the first half or so before the enjoyment began to fade, and the negative aspects of it began to take over. I can live with that though, as the first half was very enjoyable.
I also tried a Cohiba (not sure the vitola) given to me by an acquaintance, which sat for too long and got dried out. I tried to rehumidify it, but probably didn't fix it. I didn't think it stood out as particularly better than the others I tried.
Since getting back into it about a month ago, I've smoked a Montecristo #5 and a Siglo I, bought from a local B&M. I also bought a Romeo y Julieta Romeo #2 and a Partagas Coronas Junior from the same shop, but haven't smoked them yet. I made a couple of small tupperdors to store things in.
A couple of weeks ago, while in Toronto, I picked up a few more to try:
From Cigars For You in Thornhill:
Montecristo #4
Romeo y Julieta Short Churchill
Ramon Allones Small Club Corona
Vegas Robaina Famosos
Partagas Mille Fleurs
From Cigar Bodega in Unionville:
Partagas Short
Bolivar Corona Junior
Haven't smoked any yet, just resting in tupperdors, but plan to smoke the Romeo #2 later this week, to reconnect with what I smoked years ago, and establish a baseline to compare everything else to.
