Welcome! Why don't you tell us about yourself.
Sorry for the bevity of the first post! I've been enjoying cigars for many years but seriously for the past year and a half. Participating on one of the other boards helped increase my appreciation for brands that I was unaware of as a casual smoker...such as Illusione (personal favorite) and Padilla. Among those brands, my personal favs are the Illusione -2-, Padilla Series 1968 and Miami (the "old" blend). Lately I've been working my way through a box of Pinar Del Rio Oscuro's and was fortunate enough to get my hands on a box of AF WOAM's that I ration to myself.
My favorite beverage to accompany a good cigar is Crown but when I'm in a Scotch mood I prefer 15 year old Glenfyddich. When I'm smoking before lunch, a strong cup of Cuban coffee goes great.
Not being able to afford either a young floozie or an expensive sportscar for my mid-life crisis escape I instead opted for an '07 Chevy HHR that I've decked out in a tropical Key West theme. I've had more fun with that car than any other I've owned with the possible exception of a '68 Austin Healy Sprite from my college days.
Other interests include a fascination with the Civil War having had a great-grand-uncle who was killed at Spotsylvania and a deepening interest in WWII since I've recently discovered a somewhat distant relative who fought and died for the Third Reich (a career soldier who was a WWI veteran so I don't think politically he was a Nazi). My old man was an infantry officer in the US Army in the Pacific Theater so I hope his service cancels out anything bad my German relative may have done. For my part, I spent 3 years active and 20 years reserve in the US Army Medical Department.
I'm fortunate to have a family that understands and sometimes even encourages my cigar habit...married 38 years to the same beautiful woman, have 2 sons both of whom are married to young ladies I'm proud to have be part of the family, and 3 grandsons who are a constant source of joy.
That's all I can think of for now.
