I just received my first CC box purchase, Monte esp. no 2. I was shocked to open the yellow bag and find the outside of the box without any shrink wrap or cellophane wrapping. Just the cedar box with no protection from the elements whatsoever. It did have alot of bubble wrap though.

I'm 100% confident in the authenticity of the smokes. My question is, are all CC boxes lacking in cellophane wrapping?

I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this oversight in shipping, and if you have noticed any difference in taste after the cigars have been properly humidified. I'm bummed out to have received cigars that were exposed to such drastic changes in temp and humidity during shipping (which took 5 days). Even a zip lock bag would have set my mind at ease.

Thanks all in advance for the input.

It depends on the vendor, but yes, I've seen this.

It's not ideal, but I wouldn't worry too much. Just get them in a good environment and leave them be for a few weeks.

5 days isnt too bad, i just got my shipment the same way and it had bubblewrap wrapped 3 times around. The sticks look, smell, and feel great. I would just let them settle for at least a week or 2 before smoking.

Congrats and welcome to the slippery slope of CC's. :cbig:

CC boxes don't come in cell or shrink wrap from the factory. Some vendors will vacuum pack, add a humidy pack, add extra bubble wrap in the box, or all of the above.

Yep, that's how I get'em. I wouldn't worry one bit about it, just make sure they acclimate to your humidor for at least a week and you're good to go.

I got a box from cuba, that was out of a humidor for a good 10 days. Sealed box. When I opened still pretty squishy, and I've had few since. Their fine. I wouldnt worry to much. I think cigars are made out to be more fragile then they are.

i want to add: depending on the box code/year you might want to give them a couple years
Box code is SEP May '10. So yeah these are gonna sit a while! Although I probably will smoke one in maybe 6 months and then periodically to see how they progress.

I have a question along the same lines...I recently received a box of Party 898's. The box came in the outer cardboard box which had the date, box code, yada yada yada. However, nowhere inside the box did it have the rectangular slip of parchment paper that goes over storage instructions, etc. I've never encountered a box without this. I'm very confident in the vendor and authenticity, but was hoping someone could shed some light for me??

Have you ever forgot to do something at work? The folks rolling the cigars are held to a high standard, not so much the folks packing them into the boxes.

It's cliche, but..."it's Cuba". Don't worry about it.

I hear ya fellas. I just thought I'd see if anyone else had run into this. I'm not too worried about it so let's consider this case closed. Thanks.

When the date is stamped on the cardboard outer box, the cigar box itself is never stamped. I would be worried if that was the case. Relax and enjoy them.

As far as no shrink wrap. Do not worry about that. The cigars are fine. I would recommend at least 30 days in your humidor to acclimate, a week or so really is not enough time. Different vendors package different ways. There is no rules when it comes to shipping, totally up to the vendor.

Hey I had that same problem with the ones I got in the Nigerian market a few years ago. Havent been able to find parti's with those distinctive cuban banana flavors since then. Really been disappointed with all this earthiness I get in the ones that are sent to me at random by vendors against my will.
