Your thoughts please...Taste...Quality...Overall profile between the two?
I know there are probibly reviews on both of these but I'm just looking for

I personally do not think they taste similar and the blends are different. In fact, take the D4, remove 50% of it's refinement, inject it with steriods and that would be the P2 in it's youth. Can't tell you how the P2 tastes with age but when they're young, they're strong!

I've not had enough D4's to really be able to say exactly, but I agree with the above (what up, bro?!). For me, D4's have always been OK, but I love the P2's. I think for me that the D4's may be a shade more "refined" than I really go for in a Partagas, if that makes any sense.

I've had one of each. Really enjoyed the D4, didn't like the P2. I don't have a refined pallete, so I couldn't tell you what "hints" or "notes" I got from either, just my overall impression.

I get a burnt tongue sensation on the P2... like loads of white pepper, which I dont get from the D4.

I have enjoyed cigars from several of the PSP #2 from '09 and at least a 1/2 dozen PSD#4 from '09, as well.

Lets discount for a moment one of these cigars being young, or in its sick period. The piramides if able to concentrate more of the Party flavors, due to its design, but we have it on good source that the blends are almost identical since at least '08
Many old timers have been noting the difference since '07 for the PSD#4. The more popular they have become, the less aggressive they appear and consequently, the less punch they deliver. It as if these two cigar profiles have been brought closer together, almost an agreeable middle ground.

Enjoy your cigars,
Cheers

I had a couple of 10ct boxes of P2 from 06. They were NOTHING like the P4. I found them bland and one dimensional. If I didn't know my source I would have thought they were fake. The constructions was flawless and burn great but they just didn't have the flavor I expect from a Partigas. Maybe it was just a bad year but based on this I have never gone back.

Love the p2s. When they came out I tried a single and after I smoked it I bought two boxes.

I think they're close to 5 years now...

They lost some of that initial punch that I liked, but now you can pick out the leather and tobacco and coffee more readily.
