Meth lab found at S. Tulsa Wal-Mart

Tulsa police arrest a woman for mixing chemicals to make meth inside a South Tulsa Walmart Thursday.

Elizabeth Alisha Greta Halfmoon, 45, also known to go by Alisha Halfmoon, was arrested for endeavoring to manufacture meth at the 81st and Lewis store.

Police say surveillance video shows Halfmoon had been in the store since noon. Six hours later security noticed she was acting suspicious, so they called Tulsa Police.

Responding officers say she claimed she was "too broke to buy the chemicals."

“She didn’t have the money to make the purchases of the chemicals that were needed so she was taking what was needed in the bottle,” says Officer David Shelby.

Shoppers inside the store had no idea someone was cooking meth at the store.

“This is a family store,” says Jessica Fuentes, who also had her 1-year-old son inside the store. “People need to start thinking. If she has family she needs to think about her family. If you are broke. It’s just wrong."

”When I saw her she had just finished mixing sulfuric acid with starter fluid in a bottle,” says Officer Shelby.

They immediately got her, and the ingredients, out of the store before any of the shoppers got hurt.

No one was evacuated.

“Something could have happened, something could have blown up in there,” says shopper Jonathan Tary.

“When firefighters were on the scene she made statements to them that is what she was doing, she was attempting to obtain these chemicals and was in the process of trying to manufacture meth. However, she said she was not very good at it,” says Shelby.

A responding officer didn’t know the bottle was active. As he was discarding the bottle the chemicals burned through the bottle and through his gloves.

He was treated for chemical burns on his hands and is okay.

Police say they arrested Halfmoon just last month in a smurf sting. Smurfs are known among police as meth cooks or recruits who purchase pseudoephedrine to make meth. The medication is often found in cold and allergy medicines and is the main ingredient needed to make meth.

Jail records show she was booked on November 6 and released from jail on those charges on December 6.

Records show she received a deferred sentence and bonded out on $7,500.

In October, Glenn Reese was arrested at that same Walmart with a backpack containing what police called an active meth lab. Drainage ditches and tunnels in that area have been a common place for meth making and using, according to Tulsa police.

You think people would notice the strong chemical odor of cat piss and vinegar that all meth labs smell like.

I am sure hdroadglide remembers the ghetto Bannister Wal-Mart. You had to go to the bus stop to get a shopping cart and hope you didn't get rolled in the process.

That's incredible...in a bad way. I'd never have thought that someone would be so cavalier about such a dangerous substance. I mean come on. And clearly this individual has no interest in being a productive member of society. You get out of jail and withing days you're back in jail :scratchhe. There should be an island colony for these people to be exiled on.

The bloody Aussies here are proud to be a descendent of a convict.
I don't think they feel ashamed that their ancestors were the worst of the worst criminals of England, so much so that they needed harsher punishment than the cold and wet prisons of Her Majesty's establishment. Where did they send them? To a land with mild winters and beautiful summers. There! That'll teach 'em!
Stupid Poms!

By the way, I chose to come here, so I'm not one of "them".

I'd guess most of us don't know what a meth lab smells like and I'm thankful. However, a rank smell like that in a store certainly would have gotten my attention and I would have told a manager right away.

I have heard of stories here in Arizona that they use motor homes and cook it out in the desert. There was one of the mobile meth labs that it blew up with every body in it. Now with the border issues we are having with Mexico they smuggle it across over the fence or in tunnels under the fence.

Now we know why the Yellow happy face always smiles at Wally World.

the problem is some stupid bastich with some decent chemistry training and no moral compass came up with a "one pot" method that simplifies the process to the point that even a crank case can make it. if you cannot find the info on the interweb, i am sure you can be taught in the corrections institutions.

and i am not sure i would peg "a rank smell like that" as atypical in wally world. clean up in aisle ten could realistically include hazmat on a good day!
