What's up people,

Another question for you regarding your palate, how long would you say on average would you say it takes to gain a well seasoned palate, and what steps do you take to season it correctly. Would you say you choose the palate or does a certain cigar you like to smoke determine how well your palate gets broken in? Good day & God bless Yall!

It could take years depending on how often you smoke, your taste buds, etc...

I would say that for me personally it took me about 10-12 months before I could really get into the particular flavors, determining regions of tobacco, etc... I would definitely look at a flavor wheel for a starting point...

as far as sweeter smokes, I would look into the Illusione Epernay, Padron Maduros, and Tatuaje Havana VI

I think it's a combination of things that determine when, how much and if your palate develops. Some people smoke cigars for years and all they know is that they like it, if you asked them what flavors they get they'd probably say it tastes like a cigar. :) I think I've got a 'medium' palate.. I detect some flavors and not others. I tried a new cigar tonight and I swear I got a hint of cumin from it. Some people are programmed to where they'll taste flavor more intensely, they're called "Supertasters", there are also "medium tasters" and "non-tasters".

Estimates show that about 25% of the population are non-tasters, 50% are medium tasters and 25% are supertasters. So if someone says they taste syrup, grass and pineapple (actual review I read this week!) then maybe they do... I guess maybe they are SUPER.

Hmm??? This was just supposed to be a link to the Wiki article but the forum put that big 'ol tongue pic in here.

I start off with a dash of salt & pepper, then one minced garlic clove followed by a small pinch of ground giger and proceed to roll tongue in mixture and roll. After about a half hour I will remove and and place in a plastic baggie with a teaspoon of oil, a cup of soy sauce, and 2 tbs of brown sugar. Once it is coated completely I will then take leaks cut in strips and lay in a criss-cross pattern over the top. Total time about 30 mins....Mmm Mmm Good
:scratchhe Actaully this is for seasoning my shrimp...Sorry! :hysterica

Ha....ha...ha...I figured I get a few of those Cig sounds good minus the leaks, But thanks for the advice and suggestions. I envy the super taster's thats a special talent not only for cigars, but to be able to savor various flavors others can not. I think the more I smoke I can probably ween myself off the sweeter sticks and open my palette up to flavors, Im almost positive I won't be able to get over my dislike for bolder sticks.

The "seasoning" comes with time. Trust me you'll know when a cigar is good and when one needs to be pitched:)

Sorry..I couldn't resist!!
Not everybody has a refined palet (I don't). And what some guys on here taste you may not. There have been alot of reviews on here that have made me go out and buy one only to find out that I got completely different results. To me alot of cigars taste the same but a few have made me say WOW so thoes are the one's I stick with. You will find your own WOW cigars with your own flavor profile so I wouldn't put all your chips down on what is said by everyone else. I would say after about six months to a year of trying different sticks your pallet will be able to tell you what you really like. Don't be surprised though if you come accross one you really enjoy and then a year later you find you don't like it at all. Sometimes your flavor profile will change wether you want it to or not. Atleast this is my experience.

MY wife has a very refined pallet and picks out flvors inmy cugars beers and wine..etc. She got it from being a chef and doing lots of tasting different spices and dishes over the past 6-7 years. Ya know if you've never had the food item before, it going to be hard to pick out that flavor.
