As stated in my last post, I am buying some cigars to bring to my sister's wedding. I have bought some cigars based upon the advice I received (I have a box of Choix Supremes and also bought 2 boxes of RyJ coronitas en cedros & Rafael Gonzales petit coronas) and am trying to figure out how many to bring. [I purposefully bought some for my own coolerador.] My sister and her fiancee are in their late 20's and there will probably be quite a few people in that age range. But, there will also be quite a few people older than that (family, etc.). The best estimate is 150 people attending the reception. There will be an open bar for beer and wine.

With that information in mind, how many cigars should I bring? I don't mind supplying the cigars for everybody but I would like to both avoid wasted cigars (2 puffs and it is put out) and people grabbing a handful as party favors. My sister thought that half of the people there would smoke cigars; but, my own experience is that almost none of the women will and not many of the men will either (maybe 1/4 - 1/3 at the most).

What do you think?

Hook em into the "Dollar" dance. Then only those that make a donation and dance will get a cigar. Newly Wed's will get the cash......Oh and make sure you have a couple of bottle's of good wiskey for the shots that go with the dancing.

We had about 250 people at my daughters wedding. I brought a box of 25 PSD4's a three boxes of 10 of NC RyJ tubos, a box of CAO Italias, and a box of Macanudo churchills. I was carefull about giving out the PSD4's to people that I knew would smoke them. The Macs disappeared in an hour. The RyJ's all but 4 were left. The CAO's half a box. The PSD4's? Only CWS knows. People reach for what they know.

I was doing good with the estimating until you threw in the open bar (Factor Q) Get a couple bundles of the Consuegras for the puff and throws.

i like the way Chuck did it! have a box of the good stuff set aside for those who know cigars. for the rest, something that you won't mind see laying half-smoked in an ashtray!

Lets see, to my wedding I brought 10. I brought 4 top shelf for the wife, my dad, the best man and myself. The other 6 were for a couple of very close friends I knew would smoke. Since we got married at a golf course there was plenty of spaces to smoke. Everyone knew the wedding party was going to go enjoy a smoke after dinner. Since the wedding was from 3 to midnight we knew we could fit it in(dam youths we like to party).

I only brought enough for the people I knew would smoke with us. If anyone else asked for one, I just said sorry I don't have any left.

I actually always keep these on hand to give out. They're something I would smoke and for a buck, I don't care too much what you do with it.

Is smoking even allowed inside?
Since I was paying the $50K for the wedding, one of the few things I asked for was a venue where we could have a cigar. SHe picked a great country club with a patio that ran the length of the ballroom. I gave cigars to all the waitstaff and chefs that wanted one (not in the count). No complaints no problems

The wedding is at a country club so there will be smoking outside. Thanks for the advice, I think I will get a box of cheaper NCs for the general public.

Those RyJ tubos were reasonably priced, look really impressive and are a mild smoke. Everyone really liked em and had the tube as a reminder that they smoked a cigar. If I was thinking I would have put a label on them ie. Ally & Erich's Wedding CIgar 2007...
