Ok, I'm sitting here thinking about wich smokes I want to take to the DC herf on Saturday and I am concerned with the effect of smoking like 10 sticks in 12 hours. What can I do to make sure I don't get nauseous from all the nicotine?

I'm not at home, but that is what I am thinking of without being able to look at the humi.

Nice line up.

I had a Diplo #2 last night that got me sick as hell. Felt like i was going to throw up, and i really like those cigars. I think i charred it when i first light it up and had problems from then on.

I always go for the eat heavy before a heavy cigar routine.
An Opus xXx after only having a banana to eat taught me that.
Of course I go for the eat heavy before the ..(fill in the blank here) routine.

I was thinking about the same thing, because during the winter months, the nicotine kicks my ass. I guess because I'm not smoking as much. Food is definitely your best friend, though.
Has anyone noticed that when drinking (alcohol) while smoking the nicotine isn't as bad? That's how its been for me.

As the survivor of two epic All-Texas herfs hosted by the Crewe of San Antonio, I have a couple of suggestions.

1. Food. Don't let your stomach get empty.
2. Water. Stay hydrated and don't overdo the booze.
3. Pace yourself. I've found that after a while, you start losing the ability to really enjoy the fine smokes you're burning. That's a hell of a lineup you've got planned, and you really don't want to not enjoy any of them. If they start tasting the same, take a break or quit for the day.

For me, the post-herf nicophetamine eyes-wide-open-can't-sleep buzz is the bigger issue, and I've never found a way around that.

And then there's that whole needing to shave the tongue thing.....:smt118

remember that you have to condition your body gradually to handle that much nicotine. whatever you feel is your body's way of telling you to "slow down, you idiot!"

using a bit of common sense will help:

- eat plenty
- stay hydrated
- take breaks between smokes

all which has already been suggested. my contribution of all this sage advise would be for you to get up and walk around a bit to get the blood pumping and the nicotine dissipated. also get out and breathe a little fresh air. it helps me immensely.

Dawg hit it on the head with #3. It's not a contest. Smoke at your own pace and only so many that you can still enjoy it.

I have found that alcohol makes you not care about the nicotine!!!!

Or just smoke near Adam, he talks so much that he absorbs all the nicotine near him...Hehehehehehe

Thanks for all the words of wisdom. Oh and Jerry, don't you worry. Those are just the ones I plan on smoking. I'm not worried about people gettin' sick off the rockets I'll be disemenating. :-\"

This is what helps me...
I go in with some food in my stomach.
Then usually I get hungry half way through the cigar and eat something like Chili fries. For some reason greasy stuff sets my palate up really well.
Most of my smokes are full flavored. I wouldn't eat something while smoking a DC El of course. Then, if I still feel queasy, (I know this dosen't sound healthy) But for sugar, I eat a Snickers bite size candybar. That really helps with the nasausness. But if I feel THAT sick already, then by all means, stop!

Impressive lineup by the way.

With this line-up, you're guaranteed to feel a little GREEN!!! My advice, besides what has already been stated is to start with smaller milder smokes. That way your taste buds will not get desensitized and you will be able to enjoy the flavors of the succeeding smokes. Have fun!!

Maybe I'll just start with the VI and nurse that as long as possible and then move to some PC's or TPC's and nurse those. I can usually get a PC to last about 70-75 mins.

I find that at HERFs, I never get to smoke my own cigars!!! :smt102

IMO, the PLPC is the way to start out.
