I'm looking at some equipment on one of those "get rid of your stuff sites". The seller has the equipment listed for $1800 saying he paid $4000 for it 6 months ago. I can buy it new online for $1750 with shipping included It's a fairly new listing.

Any advice on how to proceed?
Give it 6 months and see if it's still for sale before making an offer?
Make a reasonable offer ($600 - $800) and tell him to email me if he decides I'm fair ?
or kind of laugh and tell him he got screwed the first time and good luck finding someone else as dumb as he was??

I'd like to own the equipment but it is a half day drive for me to pick it up and my life is currently just fine without it.

Thanks for the advice, I've never done this before on line.

It's a 4000 count cabinet humidor, the shelves, bins and humidity control are not included in the picture If you say 1000 to 1200 is fair then my current set up will have to do.

Thanks, how he paid 4G for it it'll never know.

Maybe custom built ...

Now that you said Humidor tho... $600-800 is fair. I wouldn’t even pay 800 tho

It's all over the web for $2200 on sale for $1750 w shipping.

Ok now that we feel 600 - 700 is fair do I try to convince him or let him find out for himself?

Email him a link to the sale price, ask him if he would consider lowering the price. However, I think $6-700 for something that is relatively new and retails for 3x that will seem like a really low ball offer to the seller. Whether it’s worth more than that is up to you and to him to work out. Making the offer can’t hurt anything.

Just found the same humidor with refrigeration, all shelves and humidifier closed 2/9/18 for $900 on Ebay. Can't cry over spilled milk?
