  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

    Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Hey all,

I've been using a small desktop humidor for a while, I have it basically full with 10 cigars. I previously had it filled with a variety and I am using a caliber III hygrometer with the standard sponge + distilled water as the humidifier. Since I switched out the variety of other cigars for the box of little monsters I've been noticing the humidity creep up. It used to stay at a pretty stable 65-68 and now is ranging between 70-72. I ordered 65% beads from heartfelt and am waiting on those to arrive. In the meantime should I be concerned about the rh getting that high? Should I just take the humidifier sponge out? I would like to get it to be a stable 65.

Was it a new box of little monsters? If so, they could have been over humidified from the retailer. Slightly higher humidity won't hurt them but I'd wait to smoke them until your hf beads arrive and your humidity has a chance to stabilize. Sponge/Dh2o won't remove excess humidity from the environment, hf beads will. Good luck!
