Hydra Issue

Has anybody had water absorption issues lately. Right out of the box, the sponge absorbs a ton of water. It is heavy and it will last for over a month. After that it sucks. Doesn't absorb very much water and I have to refill it after 2 weeks. My first sponge lasted almost 6 months...it was great. my last 3 have only last about 2.5 months. First fill last a month...after that 2 weeks.

Was my first sponge exceptional? Did Hydra start using a new type of foam? I'm to the point where I'm gonna toss the whole unit into the trash and use my old Cigar Oasis. The CO doesn't have the adjustable hygrometer (why I purchased the Hydra), but the sponges absorb water and they last more than 2 months.

Thry wear out in time. I scrapped all the foam out rinsed the cartridge and added Super Absorant Polymers and have never bought a replacement cartridge.

For activation, are you using tap water or distilled water? When additional water is needed, how often are you adding it?

Distilled water only and only fill the cartridge about 1/4 full of SAP's. They will expand and hold a lot of water.

I add water 2-3 times a year almost always in the fall/winter.
