As any real CC lover I always wanted to vist Cuba, and this has been the topic of many conversations with some of my fellow botls here in Sweden.
A few of them has been there a couple of times and a few visit a couple of time per year. So I told my fiance that me and the guys are about to plan this trip, what do you think about this, she looked at me, laghued and said buy the ticket and charge it to our mutual account.
So there I am, happy as I have ever been giggling like a little girl. So a hug and a kiss later I am on the phone with my buddys and we will plan this trip next week. It will take place next februari so we can hit the habanos festival to.
So I have to start saving money cause I will go crazy over there and buy more than I should, that I allready know!

It would be really cool if any of the botls here would plan a visit at the same time, anyone thinking about visiting the next festival?

Well done to the GF, she sounds like a keeper.
I've been twice now and love the country, haven't done the festival yet but I'm working on the GF to get her to agree.

How much does it cost from UK to fly there? A ticket will probably set me back about 12-1300 usd from Sweden.

Can US citizens visit Cuba without getting in to trouble?
Mostly, no. In order for Americans to travel to Cuba legally, we have to prove to the gov't the need for the trip (journalist, religious, educational, etc.) and be issued a travel license for the trip. Americans that don't have those reasons and do go run the risk of getting in trouble if the Feds find out about it. Mostly they'll detain, interogate or fine you, but it's unlikely that you'll be imprisoned even though that is a risk. They'll also be flagged in the Customs database and I'm sure will be searched everytime they travel internationally and return back to the US.

From what I've been told, Cuban Custom officials will issue a visitor's visa to an American once there but they won't stamp their passport to help prevent them from being caught when they do return.

There are no direct flights to the US from Cuba. We would have to go through another country such as Canada or Mexico first.

They won't stamp our passport, but my Father goes there a few times per year when he's in the Cayman Islands. He takes a flight from there to Cuba.

Can't wait to go there, personally. Have a WONDERFUL time, Ben! Take lots of pix, brother!!!

Aaron (Gibbleguts) goes every year during the festival. He will have all your answers you'll need. I'm sure he will chime in soon. Have fun.

Don't know any reason why someone from the US would go to Canada first, and then to Cuba. Any flight that goes over the US has to report all of their passengers to the US....so you would get caught.

Wouldn't you like to know?
If you go for the festival they open up extra factories for tours. If you just walk up to a factory I think only partagas is open for tours but during the festival they take you to El Laguito and either Upmann or La Corona. Now that is not to say that you can't get into others if you know who to slip money to. And honestly the other factory I know how to find is RyJ but they no longer make cigars there.

Unless they flew out over the Atlantic over international waters. I believe flights leaving out of Newfoundland are far enough east that they wont have to pass over US soil.

Sounds good Ben, you know whats funny. Many of our wives, girlfriends, significant others get a kick out of what we do. I guess they see it as "Cute" that we all share this common bond, so they seem to jump at the opportunity to aide us in our ventures.
Every man should have a good leading lady.....( Ben ), what a gal!

p.s Enjoy your trip brother!
