I have to tell you a little story. I went to a training class in Sacramento first thing on Thursday. While at the airport I started talking with a Marine who was trying to pull the head off a cigar in the smoking area. We talked about service, letting him know I was last active in 1983. I asked him where his cutter was and he told me that he lost it. I carry two Palios with me and gave him one of mine. He was shipping to his unit and then to Iraq. He could not believe that someone would give him their cutter. I told him that it was for his continued service to this country and a means to share the share. I also gave him the 5 cigars i had, as well as my business card. I asked him to send me an email and let me know he was safe.

Please, when you see a soldier in uniform, take the time to thank them for their service. They really love it.

Be safe Corporal Michael Sterns. Watch your six and come home soon!

That was the best Marine Corps Birthday I ever had!

Bill, Your generosity is truly inspiring.

I often get caught up in my own life & take for granted how fortunate I am. It's easy to become complacent. I try to be on guard & always be aware & grateful.

Thank you for yet another reminder & all politics aside, I truly appreciate the effort & sacrifice of all our service men & women!

I didn't do it to get thanks from you guys, I did it to thank the men and women serving over aboard and at home, spending their lives away from their families so that we can be safe, as well as others around the world. God Bless them all!

Thanks guys, but I know we all would have done the same thing.

I know that there are people who do things like this and I truly do know that they take the time to acknowledge our service people. My Dad was in WWII Navy 20mm gunner off the fantail on the USS HEERMAN which has a rich history and was called "Destroyer X" by the Japanese. My wife and I live part time in San Diego and it is a place where you always see tons of men and women in uniform. I am a huge IN & OUT burger fan and there are always service people who eat there. It's not a whole lot of money to buy lunch for these guys and when they are behind me I tell the person taking the orders to 'take care' of these people behind me and I pay their bill silently so they have no idea what is going on,,,the register person tells them that it's already taken care of by someone in the place and it's really neat how they are looking around at everyone smiling trying to figure out who did what. It's not for any glory on my part, trust me, it's the best feeling in the world to pull that whenever I go there. Try it,,,you will get such a 'high' and you get to watch these good people looking around and you are the only one who knows the secret.

Awesome. I once bought lunch for a Soldier in uniform, nothing special, Carls JR to be exact. The Soldier was nearly in tears that a stranger would buy him lunch.

Pretty small price for my freedom.
