This year I decided to actually enter some stuff in the Kentucky State Fair opposed to just going and saying I can do better. I had to register back in June and dropped off my various entries this past week. Today was the first day I could go and see how I did!

I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the results of the only three categories I entered. 1st place in jalapeno, 3rd place in habanero and honorable mention in photography - group color city, land or naturescape.

Might have to break out an old, old Opus X "A" in celebration tonight!!

I lived in Louisville for 10 years and visited the state fair often. Good place to see the animals and people watch. Congrats on winning. What camera and lens dis you use? I've never done well with night shots, they seem the most difficult trying to nail down the exposure perfectly.

Thanks guys!! I'm still laughing that a half city boy / half country boy beat out all the old timers and grandmas in a few categories.

As for the photo mine is actually the one in the middle of that pic. It is of the US-98 bridge, Brooks Bridge, leaving Destin, FL and heading into Ft. Walton Beach.

Congrats man! I see you went to Cinque Terre... I loved that place!
For the fellow who asked about camera...that was shot with a Canon 40d, 300mm L prime. It was a 15 sec exposure @ f/8, 200 ISO.

I posted the shot on the link I posted earlier today because I knew I'd be going to see how it did in the photo contest today. I was surprised to get even honorable mention because there were over 300 entries in the category.
