Hey fellow cigar freaks, man I love this new hobby. I met a guy yesterday in Stag Tabacco in Colorado Springs, I beleive his name is Craig, Im terrible with names so if you are reading this and Im wrong with the name, sorry. He turned me on to this web site and was giving me ( the absolute newbe ) great hints and info on cigars. A good friend got me going on this cigar thing, and I really like the Villager's, they are inexpensive and a 10-15 minute stogey. If anybody could give me some other brands that might be similar, I would love that, cause as you know, if you go into a cigar store, there is a million choices, I dont know where to start. Any Advice?

Scot ( the stogey newbe )

Welcome.

First off Smoke what you like, like what you smoke. I have never tried a villager, and honestly don't see myself buying any in the near future. I would lead you to the 5 Vegas A Anomally, some of the Tins of smokes available. You will find small cigars available in 10 pack Tins, that are the same blend as the larger counter parts. Do you have a humidor? You can always start with a tupperware container.

Welcome!

Suggestion: Just try some different ones until you start to discover what you like & don't... That's part of the fun!
Once you have that, you can look for comparables...

It is, as they say, a slippery slope!

Just go to your local store and pick up a hand full of Petit Coronas, and try diffrent brands and maybe make some note on which ones you like and dislike. You will find out what I like and you like are way diffrent. As others have said the Tin's are a quick smoke but they sometimes burn hot so take your time. And Enjoy!

And welcome to BOTL.

Scot - welcome to BOTL! That was yours truly that you ran into at Stag's. Glad to see you made it.

You'll find a lot of good information in the "Cigars" section; users frequently post reviews of stogies they've tried.

Also you should check out this thread:

http://www.botl.org/community/forums/showthread.php?t=4734

That's something you need to get in on - it'll necessitate a trip to Stag's for you, but it will introduce you to the elder Brothers and also to some new labels to try.

The Trading Zone sub-forum under Agora is also a good deal for you. Several of the brothers do a lot of buying and selling, and you can find little fivers and samplers that are nicely priced and have a spread of cigars for you to try out. I've done several buys from guys like mnelson and Ocat, and every one's qualified as a good deal. You can spend a lot of money in the Agora section if you want to (and a few folks have!) but it's not necessary.

Again, welcome!

Welcome, one tip I can give you is do not limit yourself to size shape or smoking time limit or you will miss out on some great smokes! When I started on here I was into the flavored cigars, these great folks on here expanded my horizon's and I have not looked back nor regretted one moment!
