I stumpled upon this picture: http://www.flickr.com/photos/niclaso/3462887653

what is your opinion about this? If you weatherstrip the glassfront and you live in an area with high humidity (Mean relative humidity for an average year is recorded as 75.4% and on a monthly basis it ranges from 70% in July & August to 80% in January, November & December.

Would this be a good idea?

Coming from another man who lives in an extremely high humidity area if it isn't cooled don't bother. Spending large $$ for display case you will go crazy regulating humidity in in the summer is not worth it, may not be as much of a hassle if you're always home but if you travel quite a lot for work or otherwise problems will crop up.

My concern over this would be the fumes that are releases from Pressboard/MDF.
Then those fumes leaching into your stash.
There is alot of glue and chemicals used to keep that together.
A few days of airing that out, wont take care of it.

search some of the threads here on wine cooler conversions.. even a small wineador can hold a couple of hundred cigars.. they are sealed.. and they offer temperature control..

small ones cost less than $100 new in the US.. large ones can be bought for anywhere from $300 and up..

this one is similar to mine... I picked it up for $20 used (still new in the box.. the person I got it from was given it as a Christmas present last year and didnt want it..)..

You could move to cuba and leave your sticks on the front porch... just saying.

Cool idea but like another brother said, the glue and chems in that particle board would wreak havoc on your cigars. Lining with Spanish cedar could be an option.
