I got a phone call from one of my retailers saying that Illusione has told them to not discount any of their cigars. I don't know if this applies to all retailers or just this particular one. Interesting for sure.

From what I have heard lots of brands set a minimum advertised pricing. The one small local B&M around me likes it. He says it helps him, because it allows him to price his boxes competitive to online retailers. Unless it is a massive seller, he tends to not stock as much of brands that the msrp is way off from what it can actually be had for. Illusione is one of the brands he will stocks consistently. Love that brand.

Better go to Superiorcigars quick. They have Fume D'amour's cheap. Illusione, Fume D'Amour, Viejos, Robusto $119 box, etc...

I think most online stores will show the pricing between MSRP and the at the lowest the manufacturer will allow then discount through promo codes. I'm not in the biz so I'm sure someone like Craig can drop some knowledge on us.

Weird, are there 2 threads? Anyway, this is what I posted in the other one:

Yeah, common practice with some brands like Padron and Ashton. Even some of the big boys like General and Drew Estate have certain lines that are "contract brands" that can't be discounted more than a certain amount. Helps level the playing field from the Internet Retailers to the Mom and Pop shops.

If it's a contract brand then they aren't supposed to go any lower, even with a promo code and in some cases you can't do a promotion with certain lines if they're already at minimum pricing. The "minimum advertised price" definition can vary for certain companies, so there are always exceptions. There are a lot of companies that suggest things and then there are those who enforce it, that's all I will say about that. :)

Same reason there's fewer and fewer good stuff left at the devil sites...

I get it, but don't like it obviously.

Oh well, just need to smoke what I've got already.

Any word on if the FDA is taking over pricing yet?
