As much as I LOVE living in the heart of the city, it has its downfalls. The biggest one right now is lack of space. There's lots of water available to fish in, but I haven't been able to track down a cheap boating solution. I don't need much. Just something that can get me off the shore and access a few coves off the Catawba River specifically Duck Cove [ame="http://maps.google.com/maps?q=35.380968,-80.97898&num=1&sll=35.378186,-80.97986&sspn=0.005721,0.017982&hl=en&ie=UTF8&ll=35.379551,-80.978551&spn=0.005721,0.009849&z=16"]here[/ame]

Has anyone ever used inflatable boats like this?

They are super cheap and the two reviews I saw on YouTube seem to portray it as durable. It'd be just me paddling around with my tackle box and pole...

Thoughts?

Do the reviews say what happens when the fishing hook snags on the boat??? :)
haha, actually I do remember reading somewhere where someone mentioned it was thick enough to avoid punctures as long as they weren't direct. The thought of a large catfish's fins stabbing the boat has crossed my mind more than once though :disappoin

If you go with this boat and take someone with you remember to call out "duck or bleed" before you cast.
That reminds me of a time when a friend got his lure caught in a bush. He gave a solid yank and the lure became a treble hooked rocket in my direction. Deepest I've ever had a hook embedded :cursing: :cursing:

That pontoon boat could be stored on it's side next to a house, under a tarp. and is priced right. Other wise, a driveway is all you need.

Come one Chuck you've got to think outside the box....just a bit.

Hmmm...maybe I should've specified that I live in a 1 bedroom apartment with my fiancee and the largest storage area we have is under the bed...

That Bronco Pontoon Boat looks pretty legit and my dad actually owns one similar that he offered to give me next time I visit home. But I LOVE to lay down and put my feet up while fishing. This seems hard to do on one of these :scratchhe

It sounds like for your situation the inflatable is going to be the way to go. I've used inflatables in high school and college to fish farm ponds. Pretty easy to back pack 'em where you're going and the storage space is impossible to beat. Most have several air chambers so if one were to get punctured, you still float. And it's not terribly hard to patch. If you look, I think they make some covers for a few brands that will give you some extra protection...though I'm not sure how well they'd stand up to a catfish spine. You might consider an inflatable kayak if it's just going to be you as they may be easier to paddle on windy days. I know on a few occasions it was rough going and I got blown all around the pond I was on. Some boats though have attachments for small trolling motors.

A sit on top kayak is the way to go. Light to carry or drag and a hell of a lot faster than an inflatable boat. You also can't puncture them. I have a center console bay boat, two flat bottoms ans a kayak. The kayak gets the most use.
