Very well written and insightful. Sad state of affairs in America these days. I'm all for cutting down on secondhand smoke, but where is the line drawn?

good read, very balanced. although i would like the see some research citations for the last paragraph, where he talks about the redeeming qualities of tobacco. as much as i would love to quote him in discussion with some anti-smoking mates, dont think they'd take the word of "a writer, magician, and bartender." not saying he doesnt know what hes talking about, but would be good to see some solid evidence.

I can definitely agree with this. His credentials do make him look suspect.

Cigarizard,

Here is a 20 page essay written by Joe Jackson, and English musician, entitled "Smoke, Lies and the Nanny State." It is written in a more academic way and has resources listed at the end for further research. You may have read this already but just in case you haven't it seems like a good follow up to the link I posted earlier.

Great article - thanks for the read.

I can understand the need to cut out smoking in bars, restaurants, airplanes, etc., but to eliminate cigar bars, or attempt to stop people from smoking outside or in their own house takes things too far for me.

Definitely worth passing around. But the thing is, People don't always believe they have to respect someone else's passion, even when said passion is being enjoyed in a respectful and courteous manner.

Personally I can't imagine smoking a cigar on an airplane but I'd damn sure probably do it if I could. I DO remember the days when you could light up on planes.

But yeah, stay the hell outta my home, Government.

I didn't like it man. Some things were true, but others...is like covering the sun with one finger. But anyways...
