I've got a Westinghouse 32inch flat screen HDTV and a Phillips sound system with DVD player...Everything has worked fine till the other day I put in a rented DVD and the screen goes blank and says invalid format...this has never happened before...even one of the DVD's that played in it before has the invalid format error...some dvd's play and some dont...I seems that maybe one of the setting have been changed but I'm not sure...anybody out there know what might cause this error and how to correct it?????

What kind of DVDs are these? Burned ones? Rentals? Retail versions?

It could either be the disks not playing nice, or maybe the laser is just goin bad or theres some dust in there. How long have you had the player?

You could try picking up one of those DVD lens cleaner kits, also check if the disks themselves are scratched in any way next time one doesn't play.

What movies are they, and also, what type of connection are you running from the DVD player to the HDTV?

Composite/Component/VGA/HDMA? (Hopefully HDMA or VGA)
