Anybody recommend a nice cigar place?

Is this the right place for this thread?

The culture and food thing I have figured out.

The cigar thing, not so much. :)

There are a number of decent shops there that sell cigars in the touristy areas, but just be warned that they're REALLY expensive, especially given the curent place of the dollar. So plan to buy a few really pricey sticks, and bring the rest with you from home!

My buddy went to Amsterdam last year and told me cigars were pricey. He's a coffee junkie so relly spent ALOT of time in the coffee hutches. He also said he found it odd that hash/pot was cheeper than tobacco.

Haven't been but have tasted their smokes and friends have mentioned:

PGC hajenius is a leading purveyor of the small, short-filler Sumatran cigars that the Dutch are so fond of. Hajenius primarily uses Indonesian tobacco with cuban and brazilian blended in.

A thumbnail of their showroom humidor was posted in the cigar wallpaper thread. Also have museum on premise. A lot of history there- the Dutch brought commercial tobacco plantations to Indonesia and Sumatran seed has since migrated all over and even made it into some premium smokes.

Enjoy your trip bro!:waving:

Ps. Don't miss their aged Gouda. The older the better

Ahh, Amsterdam. I don't know about cigars, but if you're gonna be there a while you might wanna look into renting a car. The taxis are PRICEY. I remember spending around $150 just to get to and from the airport.

Brother, not a good city to be on a restricted diet. Certain smokables make a basket of fries and mayonaise irresistable. Hey..I wasn't always in the Army!
You are HILARIOUS! I LOVE aoli on my fries and my friends think I am insane, which of course, is hard to argue with. ANYWAY, that is one of the first things I thought of and my no starch/carb regiment!

Well, 3 things. Food, cigars, and, you know, the other thing. :headroll:

Public trasportation. We took a train from the airport to the city and then a trlley to our hotel and all the tourist spots.

As far as pot and hash being cheaper than cigars, Pot takes a lot less room to grow, and a plant can go from seed to spliff in 120 days easy. And that is with 30 days of drying time. So they can harvest 4 times per year with an indoor operation.

One of my favorite cities. The Red Light District on a Fri/Sat night is worth the price of admission. Drunk UK Soccer holligans swapping witty conversation with the working girls. Particularly liked the Indonesian food (former Holland colony). I always brought my own cigars with me although you can find all the CCs you like at very high prices. Any night in a local pub is big fun cause the Dutch know how to enjoy life.

A word of advise: Do not start your morning with coffee and space cakes. The rest of the day will be downhill. Don't ask how I know.
