I currently use itunes on my desktop for my iphone 3gs. I bought a 2nd generation ipod touch for my son and wondered how to manage the 2 devices?

1. Should I download itunes on the netbook and create a new account, say under my wife's name, and use that as the syncing spot (separate computer)

or....

2. Manage both devices under the same account on my desktop?

The latter would definitely be simpler in regards to adding gift cards to a single account but I wasn't sure if there were any horror stories of trying to manage 2 devices under 1 account.

Any advice?

I have an iphone and 3 ipods that I manage under one account on one computer... no horror stories for me so far.

I would recommend backing up your iphone peridiodically and if you have alot of music make sure you back it up to an external hard drive to avoid any nightmares.

The apple site provides alot of info on how to backup etc.

My problem seems to be 3 iPods on one account the wife and child get my music and vice versa. We made separate accounts on different pcs. I am slow at technology so that works well for us.

Plug it in and hit the X to stop it from syncing. Then click on the summary for the iPod and scroll down and check the box that says Manually Manage blah blah blah. That way it doesnt try to do it on it's own and you wind up with 60 gigs of podcasts instead of your enitre music collection for your plane ride back to Afghanistan.

Yeah I did that.
