Is there any of the Johnny O in robusto worth giving a shot? Seen alot of mixed reviews on consistency?

I've never had a bad Johnny O. When you see criticisms of consistency, it is likely inconsistency of blend, flavor, etc. These aren't Fuentes. But, I've never had a Johnny O that was poorly constructed. Try them. I can say with some confidence that they'll be good. However, when you reorder in a few months or a year, they may be a little bit different.

Try them, they are inexpensive enough. I have enjoyed the few that I have had. Buy a bundle of something, bury half and smoke half.

I have had a smaller ring gauge JO that was near unsmokable. I definitely smoked it, but it was like trying to suck ice cream up a straw. Only one I have had an issue with.

I had the same experience with a corona size. It sucks when you get those types of smokes. Cuban construction is what that is.

Any leads on other custom rolls to try please PM me on which ones to give a go thanks?
Just a FYI I like his customs with 2-3 years on them. IMO it makes a world of difference. I've probably smoked 1-2 cabs since 2008. If they are muted fresh. Just try them in another year. Etc Etc.....

recent batches (since Dec '14) have been excellent, and very tasty young.

I expect an awkward phase, sometime in the first year.

The one I had was terrible, I will give them another go eventually.
I have a 75 count small desktop humidor just dedicated to JO's. They really need at least a couple of years. Just a couple of weeks ago I opened lid to rotate trays and the smell of ammonia almost knocked me out. 57 young JO's produce some fumes but will be well worth it in future.
With that said I've smoked a few ( started with 62 ) and even infant young they were not bad. Just not what they can be.
