I gave up on getting a 10mm 1911 and decided to purchase a Rock Island Compact Tactical instead. I will stick with my .44 mag in the woods. Can't wait to get it and take it to the range. From what I hear they are very reliable they eat all sorts of ammo and Rock Island has very good customer service if anything goes wrong. I think they have a lifetime waranty and they are are not too expensive either. Plus I like the way the 1911 style pistols feel in my hands.

Here is a link for those of you who are not framiliar with them
http://www.impactguns.com/store/4806015514299.html

They also get a lot of good talk at the m1911.org forum

Check this place out a very cool place to visit if you are a 1911 man.

Glad to hear you guys like it. I'll be sure to give you guys a range report as well.

If I like it I may have to get him a big brother. A 5'' tactical or a match.

That's a nice looking compact. And at a great price for a 1911 style .45. :bangbang:[/QUOTE]

I actually paid less than the impact guns price ($435) I just showed their link as they had the best picture and description.

She looks sweet? let us know how she shoots.

Well I finally made it out to the range today and put 150 rounds of Remington UMC 230gr ball ammo through it. I used the original Novac 7rd mag, Mec Gar 6rd mag, Colt Defender 7rd mag, 2 different McCormic mags (sp) and a Wilson mag and didn't have a single malfunction:smile: It took me a few shots to figute out the sights as I was shooting low. But after that I was keeping everything within the 7 ring after that and was making big holes from most of my rounds hitting in the 9 and 10 ring area. It shoots just as well and maybe even a little better than my Colt Defender. (which is still giving me feeding issues, even after I took it to my gunsmith:sadstare:) The only issue I have is that after I was done shooting. I noticed a few 6 or 7 tiny scuffs in front of the ejection port left from the brass that ejected out. But overall for the price I paid and the way it shoots I'm extremely happy with this pistol and look forward to my next trip out to the range.

While I also have no issues with the current grips. I may buy some nicer looking after market grips to dress it up a little bit.
