... that ended right outside my office!

I was outside putting some stuff in my car when I heard sirens and then a loud car crash. I thought maybe someone had slowed down for a firetruck and had gotten hit. (My office is on the intersection of an expressway + a major street). Just then a guy on a full sprint barrels past me into our parking lot. I watch as he then heads over into the tree/bush area. I'm still walking toward the intersection when a young lady now runs into our lot and I can see the damaged car she came out of is still rolling down the street, sans occupants. :eyequiver She is quickly followed by a motorcycle cop who stops her with his gun drawn against the side of our building.

Meanwhile, the guy has come back into our lot about 150 feet further down the tree line and is quickly surrounded by multiple officers all with guns drawn. A bit later I'm asked to show where the guy ran into the bushes and if I saw him carrying or dropping anything. I did not, but they said they might bring the canine unit over to search. I'm assuming drugs are involved.

Wow, what a way to start the holiday weekend.

Wow...that's some excitement. Much more so than I saw this morning. Looked like a pretty serious felony stop...two cruisers rolled up on the suspect vehicle with one more behind 'em blocking the off ramp.

Back when I used to work for the police, I got to participate in several felony stop training exercises for new officers.
It's not fun when they finally catch you.

Nice!
When I did my internship at Sandia, some dumbass robbed like 4 banks and got tons of cops on his tail. Moron drove right onto the frickin' Air Force base where I worked, so of course they just shut the gates and got one of the on-base SWAT teams (or some tactical team) to go and apprehend the guy. It was pretty funny, him driving onto an air force base and all. :hammersma

i got to see a high speed chase once. well, a chase anyway. some guy was drunk and ran his car into a ditch. couldnt get it out, so he started walking down the road. along the road aways there was a tractor that a farmer left in the field while he went back to the house for lunch.
well the drunk must have gotten tired of walking so he hopped the fence and took the tractor.
cops eventually got him when he crashed the tractor into another ditch
