Going to be in Kansas City, MO in a few weeks and was hoping to get some great recommendations from fellow BOTL's...

1. Must visit cigar shops. I'm always on the hunt for rare cigars/memorabilia.

2. Must visit liquor shops. I'm always on the hunt for good bourbon/scotch. BTW what's the liquor tax in MO? Is it better to purchase in neighboring states?

3. Must visit BBQ. Traveling with my daughter's vball team (16 year olds) so an age appropriate place would be appreciated... :) Someone recommended: Gates, Aurther Bryants and LC's...

4. Must visit Cigar Lounge. This part will be a Dad's only tour...

5. Worthwhile tours and/or things to see/visit. Is the HD Factory worthwhile?

Thanks in advance and any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

what area of the city will you be in? that will help to know where to suggest, although most everything is fairly close. cigar stores are primarily the outlaw and diebel's. the outlaw has two locations, northkc and south johnson county and both have lounges. the main deibel's store is on the plaza, but no smoking area.
bbq is subjective. all three of those mentioned are traditional spots and shouldn't be an issue with teens.

Outlaw's a great place to hang out. Love going there. Can't help you much on the other things, but Bob's advice has never been wrong in my experience.

Have fun Mike! I visited KC 6 years ago and researched good BBQ joints. I can't remember the name (and don't have time to try and look), but I ended up learning about a bbq place that is literally joined with a gas station. It had raving reviews on TripAdvisor and a few other places and when we pulled up, I was wondering what the heck. But the restaurant part is on the side and literally had a line out the door. It's a casual place, but the food was great. Any locals know this place?

Go to Oklahoma Joes for BBQ, get booze at Luka's liquors (MO one), Buy/smoke at Outlaws and tour the Boulevard Brewery.

Your hotel is just minutes from my house. I usually go down to Cigar and Tobac when I'm looking for something, then down to Outlaw South after that. They are fairly close to each other-just a lot of stop lights in between. Smokehouse BBQ is right by that Outlaw, and is solid. Personally, I'm also a big fan of the Chinese food right there at Bo-Lings. There is a Gates BBQ real close to your hotel, but it's my least favorite of all of their locations. The quality just doesn't seem up to par with the others. There is a good BBQ trailer back east a bit, it's in the parking lot of Cigar Merchant in Blue Springs. The staff there is good, but their selection is fairly basic. They don't get much of anything HTF, but they do keep good stuff in stock. If cigar LOUNGE is what you are after-Outlaw has the most impressive one around. We have a lot of history in the area, WWI museum, etc. That just depends on what you are after.

The best BBQ is Gates downtown off Paseo but go there before dark...not the best place to be at night. Diebels on the Plaza is good for sightseeing and just hanging out...some good memorabilia there, too as well as cigars but they are a bit high. The areas in KC are pretty spread out and you can find this list as a good way to get some info....http://cigarplaces.com/city/kansas-city-cigars.aspx
