I was reading your thread the other day and had never heard of the Kinder Surprise. I work for a cable company here, so sometimes I get tips. Today, my tip was 3 Kinder Surprise Eggs. How fuggin crazy is that??
Ugh, I agree with Aaron - these things are horrid, but for some reason my kids like 'em. If anyone needs em for whatever reason I can also source them.
I can see why they are banned. Its not the greatest idea to put choking hazards in edible chocolate. Especially in a chocolate Easter egg for children. Sadly some parents would lack the mental capacity not to think about handing it to a unsupervised two year old.
My understanding is that they are not allowed in the US because the toys inside the egg are considered a "choking hazard". They have some pretty cool toys inside and kids go nuts for them.
I generally try to bring some home when I travel overseas. My two main destinations are Germany and Taiwan and they are readily available in both places. My kids went nuts for them when they were younger and still want me to bring some back even though they are now 27 and 20. My wife goes crazy for them as well.
I used to carry empty egg cartons with me when I left and then fill them up with eggs for the trip home. During one trip to Germany 2 years ago I bought a whole case of them from a local gas station / convenience store and then gave them out to my nieces and nephews for Easter.
