So, I'm not a guy who goes for sales opportunities. My wife set this "product performance test" up a few weeks ago and I just went with it because she didn't tell me ahead of time. What we were told it was supposed to be was a courtesy carpet cleaning in order for the manufacturer to evaluate how the public felt their product did. Hearing this I said whatever & waited for the guy to show up for the cleaning.

He never showed.

Problems ensued after this and all I'll leave you guys with a stern warning from EVER doing business with the Kirby company. Totally an unprofessional sales force and a management crew that was nearly sub-human. Regardless of whether or not the product is good, it's a sell out for us to buy it!

When I was 11 or 12, I was with my parents at the Arizona State Fair and they filled out an application for a free vacuum from Kirby. That was the company's invitation to hassle them over the phone which they did for years (or so it seemed). As a result, I have never bought or wanted anything from them. Sounds like their techniques are still the same.

I had a guy come over to the apartment a few years ago from Kirby, wanted to do the "product performance test" too. I misunderstood him, i thought he wanted to clean the whole living room.

Well, he got started with his monologue, cleaned a 12x12 square and told us the vacuum is a great product and reasonably affordable @ $600 or whatever.

I told him I wasn't interested in the vacuum and also told him that I was getting very upset that I now have a very clean 12x12 square in our almond carpet...right in a high traffic area. (We have 3 kids, so you know the almond color carpet was beige turning brown after 6 mos.)

He said it's easy, buy the vacuum and finish the job or you could put a rug over the spot.

I called, emailed and wrote a couple of letters to Kirby. I thought I could get a free vacuum but I did manage to get a voucher for Stanley Steemer.

One of these people showed up at the house on the coast when I was working there. They literally were carpet bombing, lolz, the whole neighborhood. It was just me and another guy at the house and he unfortunately let her in. I gotta tell ya, they did a test between their vacuum and our's. Well, I was surprised by how much our's left behind. It's definitely a good vacuum, but it puts me off the way they try to push it. Oh, and this lady rode over in a van, so she had to wait on it to show up again. Ummm, awkward isn't the word.

WEll I see that kirby is still up to their old tricks. Right after the army I went on a job interview for threir company and then went through the training program. They were the worst I have seen at strong arming people.Just a pain in the butt. I left the first week.

My wife got suckered into this just a month ago. I asked the guy if I could try the vacuum for my self and I finished the whole room. It is a great vacuum, but the guy had wait on our driveway for his ride to come back. And he had some bad B.O.

I've sold Kirby's for three weeks. Strong arming is not really the word I would use, more like steamrolling. You show up, perform you tricks, ask for cash, check, or credit card. if they don't have the means to pay that way, you have them sign a contract to pay 20-30% interest.

I did well during the time I was there, but I could not continue to work that way. If you go to your local Kirby dealer, you will most likely not find anyone that has been there for more than 2 years. By the way, my hardest sale was my mother, she was my second to last sale that I made. I still have that Kirby that I sold her, still works great.
