Well, I figured yesterday was about as good a day as any to get back into the habbit after being away for six weeks. My brother (aka Texasmoke) is in town for my graduation on Sunday, and I figured we would probably smoke some pretty good stuff this weekend. Well, I suggest to the guy that we do a run through of the Habanos Reserva Line, starting with the Cohibas and ending with the Montes. Sounds like a pretty good plan right. Well I had these loose cohiba reservas that I had purchased from a vendor a few years ago. This vendor was reccomended to me, but was not someone I had ever bought from before. Unbanded they come and bands show up later ans I throw them in the humi with the stogies. Well, last night (2 and a half years later) I pull these bad boys out and much to my dismay I immedoiatey notice some discrepancies in the bands. First off the embossing doesnt really stand out, second one has wo rows of squares above the cohiba logo, and the other has 3, but I figure what the hey, never judge a book by its cover and we all know that sometimes things slip through QC. Well, I tell you what I may have been a little clogged up, but that cigar tasted like absolutely nothing. I mean it literally tasted like cardboard, and my brother smoking his from the same sampler agreed. Thankfully! I have never used this vendor again, but I thought I would post this for some ofthe guys who are at the same place that I was a few years ago, and just re-iterate the statement. KNOW YOUR SOURCES. Make sure you do your reserach before you buy, and always look at your cigars before you put them in your humidor (otherwise you might be aging banana leaves like I was). Today I will be firing up a Party Reserva, tomorrow a Monte Millenium (my graduation smoke), and memorial day will be celebrated with the inaugural tasting of the monte reserva. Cheers brothers!:cbig:
