Dude, we had a lay-over in Kuwait and I loved it! Went from puttin my shoulder to the plow in Iraq to kickin back, smokin cigars, and playin poker in Kuwait. Go to those tables in that little "shopping area" between the harley shop and the restaurants and smoke you one about 2200 hrs. Cant beat it. Make the best of it, brother!
I'll tell ya, my second deployment was a hundred times better than my first because of this. The first deployment I found nothing but negative in my surroundings. The second, I decided to make that place my home for a year. I called it home and people called me crazy. But, I got involved, went to church services, played guitar and sang in the worship team in Iraq, smoked some awesome cigars, played poker 2-3 times a week, and called the wifey when I had a chance. Dude, I miss it, it was that good. Sure, the living conditions leave much to be desired, and my chain of command was crappy, but I made the best of 'my time' and it rocked.
Be safe brother, and don't keep your head down, ya can't see what's goin on.
