I picked up a couple of these while I was in Baton Rouge last week because they have 2 bands on them and I had never seen them that way. The lower band just says EE but I cant seem to find anything that show these with the 2 bands. Anyone know if they are just a later or earlier release with different packaging or is it something different?

Hi Marty,

When Don Pepin re-blended the original La Aroma de Cuba earlier this year, they added a red band to the foot of the cigar.

At the same time, they also added the second band to the EE. I feel it is just a way to avoid confusion between the two blends since at a quick glance the label looks very similar between the two blends even though it is quite different upon studying it.

Nice choice on the cigar! The EE is definitely one of my favorites.

AZ ... I knew the EE was a Pepin-blend, but are you saying there are 2 different EEs--and only Pepin-blended stick and now a newer Pepin-blended stick? I guess that would make 4 total LACDs, whereas you said 3, so I'm guessing not.

This CAN get confusing... lemme try to clarify.

The old LADC blend was changed when Ashton approached Don Pepin (after the success they had with San Cristobal)... the newer blend is easy to spot with a darker wrapper and a red ribbon at the foot.

The EE is ALSO a new blend in the LADC line... this one he used only first generation Cuban seed from Nicaragua and is supposed to maintain more of an "old-world taste," acoording to Pepin.

So... you have the old LADC... new LADC (by Pepin)... and newest LADC EE (by Pepin with 1st gen Cuban seed)...... three totally different cigars.

Don't worry... I was confused at first too...
That's what I was after!! Thanks for the info. The "EE" banded cigars have the best by far IMO.

I don't believe there are two LADC EE's out there. From what I can gather, there is only one EE but now they come with a second, smaller band below the primary one that says "Edicion Especial". IIRC, this second band is red in color. The original release of the the EE did not have this second band but had the "Edicion Especial" phrase incorporated into the band itself. All of the components are the same, Ashton/DPG has simply altered the packaging slightly to differentiate between the two brands.

BTW, what is this LADC EE #6 mentioned by the OP? New size or typ-o perhaps? I was only aware of the #1 - #5, the #55, and the Minuto.

It was clearly marked #6 on the box. Not sure what others sizes are avialable, but this one said #6.

Does the box have the dimensions listed as well? What shape is it? Just curious to see if this is a new addition to the line.
