Short story:
I am wondering what you all think about the La Flor Dominicana Salomon? A new local B&M I found has them for $26 a stick, praised the stick, talked about how they sell fast and he doesn't expect to have them in stock for long, etc. (story below). Wondering what you all think of it, I have not had it before?

Longer story:
So on my lunch break today I decided to check out a cigar shop that I recently heard about (I have been disappointed in any of the other local shops I have visited and Drapers is to far away to be regular visit for me). Well I was happy with this place and will post pics of my pickup when I get home today. This guy had a box of LFD Salomons in stock and was telling me how great this cigar was, etc. He also said that they are hard to find and sell fast once people realize he has them in stock. So I always like trying out sticks people recommend that I haven't tried, but this one was $26 a stick. The way he hyped it up I went ahead and pulled the trigger on one, in case they indeed gone the next time I stopped by, but wondering what you all think about the stick, is it worth $26, are they really as rare as he made them out to be, did I get ripped off (overcharged by a buck or two I expect and am fine with to support a local shop that is good), etc.? (Decided to make a short version of this since this post went alittle longer than expected :) )

Ive only seen them in a B&M once.. so certainly not something you can just buy anywhere..

I passed on buying one at the time.. I think the place I saw them at wanted $28 a stick (or somewhere around that.. not 100% certain.. its been a while).. so I dont think you got ganked at a $26 price point..

cant really speak to the experience since I havent smoked one before.. but they seem to get pretty solid reviews..

smoke it and tell us about it! :)

I've not had one myself, but they are very highly rated. Seems to be the typical price bump for buying a single at at B&M so I don't think you got robbed.

Let us know how you like it once you light it up! I presume you'll save for a special occasion.

I've only smoked one earlier this year & thought that it was an excellent cigar. You can find them online in the $20 - $23/stick range (if in stock), so the price you paid at a B&M isn't bad at all. I believe they're made with 2004/2005 Dominican tobaccos (binder/filler). Whether it's worth $26/stick is really up to you & your perceived value of it.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'll definitely post my thoughts after I smoke it.

I want to save it for a special occasion, but I also want to taste it :). Given what you all have said, I might head back to the store to pick up one more this weekend just so I don't feel guilty smoking one on a "non-special" occasion (my cigar logic...)

When we had the last batch a couple years ago they were $23.80 per cigar. Wouldn't be surprised if the $26 is now the retail on them and they are going to be LE for this go around from what the LFD rep told me. Great cigar, just plan on about 3 hours to smoke it!

I was just actually gifted one from my local B&M owner last night. Funny this thread popped up. Haven't smoked it yet. I'll let you know my thoughts when I do and we can compare notes.

those the maddies or the nats chuck?
edit: Think those are the maddies. The nats came in a all wood insert. I may have to put that box on display now that I think of it........
NVM box has the answer right on it lol

Awesome, thanks for the input everyone. Now I'm pretty excited to try this one and reaffirms my initial impression that this shop is a good one :)

Price is definitely in line. I smoke at a moderate pace and it's a 2.5 hour cigar, so make sure you have the time to devote to it.

I much prefer the natty over the maduro personally. Fantastic cigar IMO. I would happily pick up a couple more natty's if I saw them in a b&m.

I bought one Nat and one Maddy about a year ago from Jack Schwartz and smoked them last Summer. I paid somewhere in the mid-20s for each. They are excellent cigars. I had burn problems with the maduro. I wouldn't buy them again though, primarily due to the size (3+ hours for me).

If those are the naturals that your are talking about then they are EXTREMELY rare. I know of only 20 sticks in existence....they are in my wineador. 10 belong to a good friend of mine and I also have a box of 10. The prices on these ranged between $23-26/stick. I travel all over the US and always look for them in B&Ms. They really are that rare.

In my opinion, the natural LFD Salamon is one of the most enjoyable smokes ever! The maduros are also a bit rare, but not nearly as enjoyable IMHO.

Jump on them if they are the naturals. In fact, I'd like to have 2 or 3 more if they are available. PM me if so.

I think there were 300 boxes made in 2009 (Natural). Heck our local went thru a half dozen or more alone. I bet there are still a few out there. (jack schwarts) etc.

Great smokes. I got a box of the naturals and maduros and both are stellar cigars. Take a long time to smoke and enjoy but really worth it.

this limited release... is it the same blend?

From what I've read these are new shipments of the original salomons so I assume they are the same blend
