La Gloria Cubana any good? Cuesta Rey? Rocky Patels? CAO? Nub?

Local B&M carries a full line of these brands, have never tried anything made by any of them yet.

I don't hear much of anything here on any of these brands.

Thoughts? Worth trying? Suggestions as to specific types/ Or not as good as the lines of Punch, Montecristo, AF, Hoyo de Monterrey, and Oliva that they also have?

I don't want to go broke just trying dozens of different maker's sticks. Just trying to narrow it down some. The only sticks I've concluded are squarely within the "don't bother" category are those made by Acid, Ghurka.

Different strokes for different folks, but there's some CAOs I like and some I don't really care for. I have had a couple Nub habano's and loved em. They're alot better than I expected and lasted longer as well. Rocky Patel has some good and some *meh* cigars, but he has a wide variety. Not too familiar with Cuesta Rey, they sell em in our PX but I dont have much experience with them. Bottom line is one person may tell you that a cigar is awesome and you may totally disagree, and vice versa. Unfortunately, you're just going to have to taste round, trial and error.

Yea diffrent cigars for diffrent folks.

I do like a lot of CAO lines and some of the Rocky lines. I still smoke a lot of La Glorias still, Series R are very good. Nub I am not a fan of. Just try them little by litle and see what u like.

IMHO LGC's are a very consistent smoke, one of my favorites for many years.

La Gloria Cubana Serie R is a good stick. Rocky Patel The Edge is a good stick. The Decade is also good. A lot of people don't like the ITC 10th's because they're the rejected blend originally intended as the Decade line but I thought they were good still. They make good everyday cigars. Stay away from the CAO Double Maduro. I think they call it the MX2. Just a nasty cigar. I hear the Brazilia and the Italia are good smokes but I'm never impressed by CAO's. The various Nub lines are good. I've had the Habano and the Connecticut. Both good smokes. The Nubs are also a good everyday cigar.

La Gloria Cubana is still one of my favorite cigars, it was the hot cigar when I first started smoking.While good fresh the regular line ages well, a corona gorda or wavell with a couple of years on them makes for a fine smoke, well balanced, with coffee and malt notes.
I'm not a big Rocky Patel fan, his cigars all kind of taste the same to me, I'd have to say the Edge is one of the better blends. Haven't smoked a lot of CAO's or NUBs, I've had a few of the CAO Brazilia cigars that where quite good. Cuesta Rey used to have a sun grown wrapped cigar (I think they still do?) that was a very good cigar although I have not seen one in a while. The line is made by the fuente's so they are well constructed.

I really like the Cuesta Ray sun grown belicoso. I havent had a la gloria in a couple years, but I do remember liking them.

CAO is ok, I don't find them to be a very exciting smoke. Rocky Patels are a good starter smoke, I rode that horse for a while, but I am starting to get a bit tired of them. NUB's are usually pretty good as well. Its all personal preference, just go pick up some singles, tell us what you think of them!

Rocky 1990 1nd 1992 are a good smoke, I also just tried the Rp Summer ollection and was pleasantly surprised by it. The LGC Serie R is good and Oliva Serie V and Serie G are also good.

You know, my opinion is that you probably need to "go broke" trying smokes for a while. One thing I think every BOTL will agree on is that you should smoke what you like and like what you smoke. Find a couple you like and gradually expand your range out.

Just about every brand you mentioned has various blends. Find your pallate and draw towards a type. If you don't care for, say, a criollo wrapper- chances are you probably won't care for the wrapper in just about any brand. The same works in reverse. Generally, if you like one cigar in a brand, you will want to expand into others. Oliva is a good example- except for the O series, I enjoy nearly all of their sticks in various sizes.

I have tried all of the nuB cigars, don't care for the Cameroon. Habano is my favorite, but it is close between Conn/Mad.

I have a number of RPs, haven't tried all of them yet. The Vintage 1990/1992 are great.

Bro, dont let anyones opinion sway you into or out of trying any certain brand! If you try one from a maker and dont like it, it may just be the blend or maybe (this is rare) you got a fluke...if the first tatuaje i smoked was the only tat i smoked id tell you that they taste like burning cedar planks, which was only true for that one which happened to be a fluke. the only way to know for sure if you like a brand/blend is to try one or two. anyhow, thats the fun of smoking cigars, trying new blends, shapes, sizes and brands. one other thing, dont be fooled by price, alot of expensive sticks taste like cheap sticks and alot of cheap sticks taste like expensive sticks. remember when mom wanted you to try a new food and always said "how will you know if you like it or not if you never even try it?" same principal applies here. enjoy tasting new cigars, buy one or two...you can always buy a box if you like em' and you can always give away a cigar that you didnt like if you bought two or more....enjoy! Well, I hope my not liking my first Cam ruins it for you. I actually have one more, may give it another go. It wasn't bad, just quite a bit different, in my opinion.
