As someone who smoked a ton of Series R when I got in to smoking cigars regularly I was looking forward to trying the Series N. Here's why....

The Series R (created by EP Carrillo) was a game changing cigar. In a time of a market bursting with mild to medium cigars the Series R was a big, bold, I am gonna bang your girlfriend and she's gonna like it type of cigar.

The prospect of taking that concept and using Nicaraguan tobacco intrigued me. When I finally got to smoke the N in my opinion, it fell extremely short of my expectations. Not saying it isn't a decent cigar (smoke what YOU like), but for me it didn't live up to what it could have been. I often wonder if it was the lack of Carrillo's influence.

So in short, the Series R is a much bolder, stronger cigar than the N.

Craig sums up the flavor between the two

This thread makes me happy. I recently bought a 5er of the 2003 release of the R from cbid. I gotta make sure I have plenty of time to smoke them. These things are monsters!
