Not kidding, watch the weight load limits. I would avoid the really cheap ass one's that have a 200 lb. weight limit. Those two thoughts jump into my mind first and foremost.

What are your requirements or reason for buying one? I would take your ideas straight to the local hardware store as well to see what they have to offer that best suits your needs.

My wife bought me a Little Giant ladder for Christmas last year. Somewhat pricey, but well worth it due to the build quality and all the different configurations you can use.

Tom, I have the little giant like tedski, it's a great ladder. I bought the one with the 400 lbs. weight capacity for my fat ass, so it was expensive, but it is a very safe ladder, and as ted said, it has many different configurations you can use.

I have to agree that the little giant type ladders are great, although they are pricey. Mine is not little giant brand, but it is the same style. I just used it yesterday to repair the Christmas lights on the house. It was so easy to make the adjustments to use for several different heights from 8' to 30'.

I agree with the other's that the Little Giant is a great ladder. There are some other articulating ladders out there that cost less and are pretty handy (I have two, a 12' and a 16') but they aren't as sturdy or as comfortable to use as the Little Giant.
Aside from those types I'd stay away from aluminum step ladders and go with fiberglass with the heavier weight capacity. A good fiberglass ladder will last for many, many years. A cheesy grade aluminum step ladder (or cheesy grade fiberglass for that matter) is an accident waiting to happen.

Not sure if I have the Little giant brand. The one I have goes like 6 feet for a normal A frame position and 10 feet for a straight position. I think the weight limit is 250 lbs.,

Thats the one. Lots of cheap crap out there. Not worth the broken bones.

I'm scared of latters, but with the purchase of the house I had to get used to them. I bought a little giant. Spent the extra money on it but feel very secure and comfortable on it.

That's my indoor ladder:stretchgr .......the yellow pages add that extra 8 inches I need for some light bulbs!

The outdoor ladder........I stand in the bucket of the loader on my tractor and the son raises me up to the required height:headroll: :headroll:
