Anyone else here into leather work?
I've been admiring a lot of the small batch leather goods and accessory cases popping up on instagram on various EDC related threads/hashtags and my brother recently got into it... making a few small things and then a large camera case.
I recently bought an S.T. Dupont cigar cutter that did not come with a case - and while they sell some with cases, they do not sell individual cases.... so I've started up trying to make my own after a bit of googling.
I've got a few different pieces of leather the right size in different colors of ostrich and just bought some waxed thread to hand sew it but have not made much progress beyond that. I thought I'd try to avoid buying an awl to punch holes to thread through and thus far I'm failing to make big enough holes with my various devices. Anyone into this type of handiwork and have any insight to share or photos of things you've made?

I'm just starting to dip my toes into leatherwork. I want to make a few holsters, notebook covers, etc, but have no real skills yet so to speak. I have seen these punches that sort of look like a fork to poke the hokes you describe, 3,4,5 at a time.

Just finished my first leatherwork project today. I'm happy with how it turned out, it's a moleskine notebook cover. Tons of room for improvement in technique and skill, but hey for a first project, I'm stoked!

Hows your project coming along @KGD?

Oh oh oh oh I am I am I am. I've really enjoyed playing with leather. I've been making pipe accessories. I started with an awl. Didn't care for my alignment of holes. So I switched to a punch.

Holy crap that sucked. Then bought this.

It has like a 00 or 000 punch. Nice size for saddle stitching. But my lines looked like a drunk walking a straight line.
Then I figured it out.
Using a piece of granite with a cutting pad, switching from the nylon hammer to an old rawhide hammer and the punch my lines were nice and straight for my stiching.
