Solid smoke, Lito.

To those who've not tried it yet, let me answer your question simply:

Do it!

Too lazy to write the actual "review" as well... lol
gosh you guys are demanding!!!

Okay, okay. Here's a not-as-short review:

Thanks to Patrick B for handing me this stick at the NHC herf!!

The construction/draw/burn were perfect, though it went out on me once (re-lit without issue).

The first third was quite strong and spicy--although not what I'd call harsh, it might turn some people off (though I'll bet you love it, huh Patrick?). The flavors were nice, but strong. Because of all that was going on in terms of body I couldn't' pick out many specifics, but the overall tobacco flavor was on the one hand very "LFD-ish" and on the other hand noticeably different ... reminded me a bit of the beginning of the Opus X I had a few months ago.

In the 2nd third the spice mellowed out a lot, but never went away. The flavors that came through were awesome--a dried dark fruit of some kind (cherry? plum?), a bit of cocoa. and distinct floral notes. There was overall a slight sweetness that was usually there--but the smoke was pretty complex, with slightly different flavors each puff. The finish is complex as well, with flavors changing between puffs. My nic buzz was full-on by now.

In the final third the spice mellowed out even more and the cigar became quite smooth. The fruity flavors were very prominent, though much of the sweetness was now faint. It seemed more complex, and I just didn't want the cigar to end. At the nub it got really spicy again before it went out. My smoking time was over 90 minutes, though I am a slow smoker. I took my time because the complex finish was very nice.

Conclusion: An extremely satisfying cigar on all counts. Tons of flavor, surprising moments here and there, very distinct "thirds," and a good dose of vitamin N. A nice pre-bedtime cigar (though I was floating a bit when I laid down, lol).

I'll try a couple more (and the larger size), but this is most likely going to be a box-worthy cigar for me. Though I'm still new at the art of aging, I'm guessing this one will age very well.

Very nice review Nate!

Jamie (Zen Cigar Man) and I were sitting at Empire Cigars last night, he was smoking the Maestro (5.5x52) and I was smoking the Matatan (5x50) and we both agreed that the Air Bender is the slowest burning cigar that each of us have smoked.

And who should walk into the store, Manny Stamathis, SE Rep for La Flor, he askes us what we were smoking and we tell him Air Benders and the first thing out of his mouth is...."You notice how slow burning they are!"

Yea, it is slow ... I thought about it again and it was actually closer to 2 hours than 90 minutes! Other than maybe the Anejo 46, this is one of the slowest-burning sticks I've had as well. Overall I think that's a good thing--feel like I'm getting more bang for my buck.

LFD has some great gars but I only enjoy those heavy hitters every once in a while. His cigars knock you on your ass! haha
yep, lol. I had my first LFD this summer, and I'm glad I waited because if I had tried them earlier I might have been too turned off (like I was with Pepin at first). But now I really like strong cigars--not all the time, but especially at night if I've had another stick that day.
