The wife and I will be on a five day cruise aboard the Liberty of the Seas (Royal Carribiean). I read that they allow smoking in designated areas on the starboard side and there is a lounge on certain ships (Connoisseurs Club) for Cigar smoking. Have any of you been? Any feedback?

Okay, yep, I have been on that ship. As I recall, the connoisseurs club is a nice little area that is open durning the day as week. There usually isn't beverage service during the day, best to bring your drink with you. Sometimes there is a private event in those rooms during the day as well, so don't be surprised if that happens. At night there is usually live music. They do sell cigars, but keep in mind that they are priced for cruise ships. Have fun. What ports are you hitting?

Well be doing the Ft Lauderdale, Beliz, Cozumel and back to Ft Laud loop. 5 days. It'll be fun as long as I now I can escape the hustle of the ship and enjoy a smoke or two.

I went on a Royal Carribean Allure of the Seas cruise a few months ago. There will be designated smoking areas on the ship...usually the upper floors. There was only one "cigar bar", and it was not open to cigar smoking 24/7.

That is a nice cruise. The FT. Lauderdale port is not bad, as long as they have finished the expansion that is. As I recall, there is a pretty nice LCDH there. It is too expensive to buy a lot, but they have a nice lounge.

Actually all the cruises are beginning to really limit cigar smoking. You use to be able to smoke on your balcony. Not anymore. Now there is only one place, maybe two on each ship that allows it.

I looked into it ad there will be designated smoking areas as well as the Connoisseurs Club but it's not like it used to be.

Some cruise lines still let you smoke cigars on the balconies but I tend to avoid it as "neighbors" often grumble about. Definitely ask. On Holland America Lines you can smoke on one side of the aft pool deck. There's a bar along with tables and chairs.

If they remove cigar smoking altogether than I'll just have to find another way to vacation.
