Benny Hill's Understudy
So my neighbor and good friend lost his brother-in-law (and good friend) Joe yesterday to pancreatic cancer. Joe was in great shape 10 months ago and had just finished running a 24 mile marathon. He had some pains in his side that the doctor told him not to worry about since it was probably a pulled muscle. A few days later my neighbor goes golfing with him and Joe complains that he is going back to the doctor because the pain won't subside. After many tests it is determined that Joe has pancreatic cancer. He goes through therapy and tries to live his life. My neighbor had been golfing with him just last week and vacationed with him a month ago. Yesterday he lost his fight and at 40 years old leaves behind a 7 year old daughter, a 10 year daughter, and his loving wife. He knew he wasn't going to make it and told them not to bother with hospice that he had no time. Friends and family came and said there goodbyes and prayed with him. Joe passed about noon yesterday. His mother went to pick his children up from school and as soon as the youngest entered the car she said "dad died today didn't he?" His mother replied yes to which the daughter said "I knew he did because I felt a big hug." ( I can't imagine saying goodbye to my kids and wife)
You never know what life has in store for you or what tomorrow will bring. Life is that "special occasion" every day you live it. So go home today and smoke that stick that you have been saving for that special day, tell your loved ones and friends how much they mean to you, and live life to the fullest.
