After waching football all weekend I decide I'd better spend some time with my girls ages 10, 4 and 1. I ask what they'd like to do and they say wacth the Zoey 101 finale, yee haw. You never know how much they understand why this is a finale but I figured my 10 yo had a good grasp. As the show is getting close to the end my 4 yo asks "who is going to be the baby's daddy". I go through a speech giving it the best I can and say somrthing about mistakes and how it can turn out good in the end.
My 10 yo pipes up " I was a mistake and so was Jared" (my 16 yo son who I adopted when he was 4) Kind of shocked I tried to think of somethng brilliant to say but before I could she tells her sister "Lets pray Zoey finds someone like daddy to take care of her and her baby". Then she explains how our family started, daddy got mommy pregnant, married her and adopted Jared had her and her sister and that that mistake turned out good.
As I sat listening, tears in my eyes I realized it don't get any better than this. I can't say I'm the best parent out there but I now know my daughter thinks I am and that is priceless.
