After waching football all weekend I decide I'd better spend some time with my girls ages 10, 4 and 1. I ask what they'd like to do and they say wacth the Zoey 101 finale, yee haw. You never know how much they understand why this is a finale but I figured my 10 yo had a good grasp. As the show is getting close to the end my 4 yo asks "who is going to be the baby's daddy". I go through a speech giving it the best I can and say somrthing about mistakes and how it can turn out good in the end.

My 10 yo pipes up " I was a mistake and so was Jared" (my 16 yo son who I adopted when he was 4) Kind of shocked I tried to think of somethng brilliant to say but before I could she tells her sister "Lets pray Zoey finds someone like daddy to take care of her and her baby". Then she explains how our family started, daddy got mommy pregnant, married her and adopted Jared had her and her sister and that that mistake turned out good.

As I sat listening, tears in my eyes I realized it don't get any better than this. I can't say I'm the best parent out there but I now know my daughter thinks I am and that is priceless.

Sounds like you raised some great kids!!!! With all of the stuff that goes on in the world, it's nice to hear stories like this. Congratulations, it's not easy raising kids these days!

I can't imagine a more memorable moment as a parent. Congrats on bringing your daughter up right. It sounds like she wasn't a "mistake" at all but a plan to keep you and her mom together. And it sounds like it worked.

Thanks for the compliments. I've got my 16yo son who unbelievably is acting.........16:wtf: and with 3 girls coming to be teenagers soon I have no illusions this will be easy and know some dark days probably are in my future.

I'll never be "Dad of the Year" but yesterday was one of the really good days and as long as they out number the really bad ones then I did ok.

keep the faith bro and stay consistent!!

i became a single father when my daughter was 5. She is turning 19 at the end of the month! high school years were not-so-fun,,, seeing her now, with her first semester of college behind her, high school is but a mere fleeting thought....
