Well, some of you knew I had rescued a rotty from a friend of mine. Cinnamin (Cinny) was a beautiful 5 yr old girl that was incredible. Listened and loved people. The day I brought her home, she growled at Teri's son, Jacob, which is sort of funny. I'd growl at him too for being a slob. lol. She was solid muscle and weighed 90 lbs. Absolutely beautiful dog. I have one before that was even more beautiful.
Well, last saturday, I noticed she was having a lot of pain in her rear legs. Yeah, i know all rotts have the potential for hip dyplasia. I tok her to the vet and she got treatment. She seemed fine until I got home from work on Monday. She could barely move and was in a lot of pain. I took her to the vet, who told me that she could either have the surgery, which is about 4K or we could try again. The vet said that surgery was the only option that would extend her life, but she still would have some pain.
I made the decision to put her down. I was not a decision that I took lightly, but it was the right one. Out other dog, Oli, was sad. Shit, so was I. I went to the pound the other day and saw a great looking 4 month old puppy, Aussie Shepherd/Border Collie mix. I didn't get her on Thursday when she became available, but knew a Animal Control Officer that had some Aussie Pups available.
Needless to say, when I saw the pups, it was incredible. Mom was a red/white and dad is a Blk tri color. This one pup started licking me and would not leave my side. Needless to say, Shelby came home with me. Teri is not that thrilled and now all things regarding dogs have become my task. lol. This includes sweeping and mopping our tile floor, feeding and cleaning up after both of them. lol.
It is funny how life works in cycles. One friend passes on and another one comes into our life to bring us a little joy! Shelby is my little joy. lol.. And she is already really fast and listens pretty good for being 11 weeks old. She is already well on her way of being crate trained and pretty well housebroken (crosses my fingers).
Sleep well Cinny and Welcome Shelby!
