Was going through the cabinet and came across a box of Liga Privada 9's in the parejo size. I know these are fairly old (when they only had the one size of the blend) but there is no date on the box anywhere. Does anyone know when they went from marking the boxes parejo oscuro to puros oscuro? G1

Last I spoke to Saka, those cabs may not be "old" as they are still making them and they are still listed as "Parejo Oscuro" for the cabs vs. "Toro Oscuro" for the 24 ct boxes on the sheet I have.

We here at Cigar King received a shipment of 48 ct. Parejo cabs back in December so they are still out there. Not sure if there is a way to tell how old they may be.

Yeah, I need to start dating boxes when I get em when they're not marked. I know these were way before I got any LP9 Pigs so I"m assuming around 2007-08? Does that sound right? The one I have is a 24ct box not a 48ct cab so do you know when they changed the 24ct boxes to toro oscuro? G1

Yeah. 24 count boxes came out in 2008. No clue when the name change came to those.

We use old-school branding irons rather than cliches to mark the LP boxes - eventually they start to pit and need replacement.

Originally in 2007 there was only ONE size of LP - the 6 x 52 No. 9 and the original branding irons said "Parejo". When it came time to replace the No. 9 branding iron for the 24-ct box we remade it to say "Toro" as now there was two other parejos in the line - the Corona Doble and Robusto. As for when this change happened... I dunno, lotta shit going on, but it was sometime over a year ago, maybe even 18 months ago...

As for the 48-ct boxes, they still say "Parejo" because their irons are still in good condition. For awhile there we had held back some 48-ct chest from 2007 and 2008 that we used as special raffle prizes at events - they no longer exist in regular inventory, but I know I have a few in my personal stash and JD and MS may have the same, have to ask them...

Today we still make 48-ct chests, but in very low numbers - the cigars in them are from current production, they tend to be a older since these are used mostly for charity functions and events so they don't insta-ship like all the other LPs that arrive in the US, but some retailers still buy them.

PS: The cigar in the 48-ct chest is identical to the cigar in the 24-ct chest - the reason the 48-ct chest exists was when there was when we first launched it I wanted the box to be larger so it wouldn't get totally lost on the shelf. Then consumers requested a smaller box to make box purchases more wallet friendly which led to the "parejo" 24-ct box...

Thanks for the info steve! I've always wondered why they changes the name.

Gotcha so if my 24 ct box says parejo, its at minimum a couple of years old. I know I purchased this box before I got my LP9 Pigs. When did they come out? I'm so indifferent to keeping dates that I'm glad that most of my boxes are dated by the factories lol. G1
