How are they ever going to determine if you paid taxes on the cigars you own?

Well, weed is really just a $245 fine here for simple possession. And those native smokes are disgusting. Have all kinds of chemicals, above and beyond normal smokes, and have animal and human waste in them, fecal matter included. People should be taxed for their stupidity in smoking those literal dog mini-rockets.

In my experience 99% of cops up here couldn't care less about weed.

I've actually smoked weed with two on-duty cops. True story.

Their attitude is basically, as long as you're not dealing to kids or making a scene in some way, they have much more dangerous people to be after than someone toking up.

Few things drive me crazier than this country's attitude on tobacco taxation. The fact that a cigar purchased "legally" here costs almost 400% more than the exact same item from any number of online sources is goddamn ridiculous.

(for example, a PSD #4 from an Ontario shop regularly sells for $22-$28 per stick...)
