Just the way they come, IMO. Maybe take the top off tubos. The cedar cabs age better for whatever reason.

Cello's or no...having tried both for extended periods (1 year or more), I have come to the conclusion (for me), that leaving the Cello's on is the best way to go. I have a walk-in humidor, so there are lots boxes without cello's (just the way they come from the manufacturer) and they tend to get a little dry over time even though the room averages 70/70. When I can, I place them in cello's, add an additional water pillow and they are living, breathing babies once again. However, i really do a lot of checking each day just to be sure that they remain "healthy, viable, livable" sticks.

Steve, I think if you are keeping them in original box, I would remove the cello. If they are in a humi with other sticks, I would think leave the cello on unless you are able to at least separate them. JMHO.

I agree with the comment about cedar boxes.
