I do a lot of graphics work with images for work at home as well as in the office and I'm looking for a program that will let me automate the way the images are transferred to my computer. When I insert my memory cards into the reader the PC prompts me for an action, I want it to automatically copy the files to a working folder on my C: drive and also send copies to my work (or home machine which ever I'm not on at the moment) without prompting me. I can't begin to tell you how many times I forget to take the card out of the PC and go home with nothing to work with.

I checked around but can't find anything. Thanks.

You mentioned you have a PC. There are a couple ways you can automate tasks with Windows. One is to use Task Scheduler. Another way to do it is to write [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batch_file"]batch files[/ame] but this is way more involved than Task Scheduler.

Thanks but not really a scheduled thing.
Type a name for the task, and then choose one of the following options:

* Daily
* Weekly
* Monthly
* One time only
* When my computer starts (before a user logs on)
* When I log on (only after the current user logs on)
I need an "Whenever photos are detected" option.

Thanks for your input.

Adobe Photoshop Album Starter edition might have the capabililty, but I'm not sure.

I know that there was one software product that I have seen that offered photographers the capability of automatically downloading to two or more locations at once. I just can't remember the name of it. If I do think of it, I'll come back here to let you know Mike.

Hire a secretary, haha.

I do graphics as well and have a folder on my work desktop with "artwork", then a usb drive that is my backup. I use software called Allway Sync that syncs the two folders when starting and shutting down my computer so the two are exact at the begining and the end of the day(more options available as well). If I need to work at home all I have to do is take the USB drive home, do my thing and when I plug it in and start my work computer the next day it is updated to the new files.

Thanks, that would be perfect.

That's kinda what I do now and it seems that I always forget to bring home the damn drive or memory card. Sux getting old!

And I do have a secretary, you'd think that from under the desk she'd notice the flash drive still plugged in and remind me. :halfgrinw
