We've talked about it a bit lately, and if I'm in town long enough-I'm going to find a class for my CCW. MO requires you go to training for one (which I'm down with) and I just hope I will be around long enough to get one this round. I've been parking the truck/trailer in some sketchy areas recently, and we both agree that it's time for SOMETHING to be around to protect us. I don't like to think that everyone is out to get us, but when I stop in a truck stop with my truck/rv, and my girl and dog-I have everything in the world that matters to me. Seems worth it to be ready, if the need arises.

So are you looking for CCW recomendations? are already have a something?

I think it's always a good idea to travel with some protection. I've heard about some bad things that have happened at truck stops.

I was going to get mine awhile back. Just never got around to it. But now here in the Wild Wild West of AZ you do not need one. You can carry concealed without the permit.

It's like that here in Killadelphia, except you need a permit but that doesn't stop anybody from carrying!

Joe I do understand from your stand point also. I understand the training but you know as well as I. That the bad guys always carry a gun. For me I use to be a Marksmanship instructor in the Marines and was a deputy at one time in my life.

should be readily available. cost around $50 in this area.
I just started doing a little digging on them. There is a place near my house, with a billboard talking about CCW. I guess now I have to go by the house to see the # on it. $50 isn't bad at all, I was seeing some that were over $100.

It sounds like you travel a lot. If you do obtain your CCW be aware that certain states do NOT honor other states CCW.

Find more info HERE.

Traveling a lot is an understatement. I have looked into reciprocal agreement as well. I plan to try to obtain CCW in as many places as I need, but want to start with my home state, and go from there.

Just throwing this out there, here's the reciprocity map for those with a Texas CHL, with a little bit of google-fu you could probably find a similar map for your state.

The link in post #10 lets you do that too! You can select your state, and then it gives you the appropriate drawing. I looked into a few classes, but none of them are going to be happening while I'm in town this time ) = Sadly, I'll be on the road for over 2 months this next round, so it might be a while till I can pick one up.

Do you have to be in your own state to buy a hand gun? I might look into picking one up while I'm out, and leave it in the RV, but not concealed carry it in the mean time.

Yes,
You must be a resident of the state to purchase a firearm. Federal felony for violating this one...
The only way around it would be to have the firearm transferred from a FFL holder to a FFL holder in your home state who would hold it till you pick it up.

There will be fees attached to this transaction on both ends!
