Looking for some tips on what to look for beyond the packaging, to be sure I got the real McCoy. I had got a box of LGC MD'O #4 and a 3 pack tubed PSD#4. It all seems legit, smell, taste, construction. Yet CC's are new to me, so what do I really know? Just want to learn what I can so I can be better informed and be confident with future purchases. Thanks all.

the bar code that is on the seal can be verified. CLICK if the bar code is missing on the seal there is microprint on the seal in seven locations. the easiest location to describe is above the "C" in "Republica" in the phrase "Republica de Cuba"

the code will even give what kind of cigars they are. if you bought a box of RyJ churchills and the numbers say its a SCdlH La Punta (or any other cigars) or that it does not verify then you got fakes.

The most important part of any cigar is whether or not YOU enjoy it. Don't drive yourself too crazy over if it's real or not, if you smoked it and enjoyed it ... what else matters?

Yeah as others said you need to trust who you're buying from. I've bought a few boxes from a vendor and so far they've all checked out. Seals intact and barcode/microprint can be authenticated on the HSA website. Not sure how to really authenticate the 3/5 packs I've bought off them but nothing leads me to believe they aren't authentic. I agree that if you like them who cares but if I'm being sold a product I expect to get what I ordered.

I appreciate all the info from everyone. Looks like I got what I ordered. I did enjoy them, even before I was positive, now I know I can get more of the same. Thanks everyone

...there is microprint on the seal in seven locations....
That only applies to warranty seals from late 2010 on though. But, yes, if you have (or can find) the serial number from your box, you can by all means check it on the habanos site.

there is no microprint on older boxes, this is true. the barcode can still be on older boxes warranty seals because a barcode was added in 2009 to most boxes and that code still works on the verify site. if the box was purchased recently there is a good chance it wasnt pre-2009. i have not received a pre-2009 box in years unless it was ordered as such specifically.
since it wasnt mentioned that it was an older, or vintage box, i didnt bother mentioning all that extra stuff. seemed kinda pointless.

I agree. I was just pointing it out to the OP for reference sake. The bottom line is trust your source & you have nothing to worry about. :)

I've notice the HSA authentication page hasn't been working for me for the last 2-3 days now. I verified a few boxes and that worked but now i'm just getting a "Oop! I'm sorry. The site is very busy at this moment. Try again later. If the problem persist contact Habanos S.A authorities.". Anyone else having issues or is it just me?

I have noticed on all my orders from several good vendors they remove the barcode section of the seal before they ship, I'm curious on why they do that. Because it is the easiest way to verify the box.
