Macanduo Maduro Vintage 1997

I received a catalog from JR cigar and they had this cigar on their cover. I open up the catalog and the sales pitch was basically to buy these cigars before January as they will no longer have the metal cigar band.

Personally, I would never buy a cigar based on a fancy new band and was shocked that they would be marketed on this rather than the quality of the cigar.

Not the only time General did this at the show, the Macanudo Cru Royale will have metal bands for the first 75,000.

I wouldn't really call this that shocking...

Bad Gimmick, Bad Cigar. I was given one. It was very toothy and I had an uneven burn throughout the entire cigar. Reminded me of a Partagas Triple Maduro yet more medium bodied.

I got the same catalog from JR. Its not often that I flip thru a catalog without seeing a single thing I want to buy, but it happened yesterday.

We sold through a box of these in 2 days, people coming in wanting more of them everyday since. Definitely a gimmick, but I wouldn't call it a bad one if they sell.

Never been a Macanduo fan. When I first started smoking cigars seriously someone sold me a fiver and said they were the best of the brand. I didn't care for them at all. Tried a couple others and the same. Just not for me so I will not even entertain the idea. Gimmick if you ask me. Thing to remember is there are thoes who like the brand otherwise they wouldn't sell. Again different strokes for different folks!
